As a mother of 3, I spend most of my days making sure they are fed and dressed properly. Their clothes and behaviour reflect the type of home they live in and most people judge parents by their children’s actions. As Christians, we reflect The Lord. If you are like me, I want people to see that I’ve grown and become spiritually mature. But how can you know if you are growing in faith? Continue to learn 5 Powerful Results of Spiritual Growth.

When someone repents and believes in Jesus as their Lord and Savior, they are saved and
become born-again. They are now a new creation unto God and have the Holy Spirit
dwelling inside of them. Although they are still living in the flesh in this world, they are
also walking in the spirit.
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh” –Galatians 5:16.
Even though we are walking with The Spirit, there is a constant battle between the flesh (represented by the old self/ways) and the spirit (the new creation).
Each and every day we have a choice to make: will we follow the Lord and walk in the spirit, or fall into temptation for the lusts of the flesh?
“For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these areGalatians 5:17.

What is Spiritual Growth?
Every day, Christians have access to two of the most powerful weapons to help them on
their walk with Christ and deny the desires of the flesh each day: the Word of God
When we choose to study the Bible and meditate on His Word, in order to learn, mature and grow in the faith, we are seeing spiritual growth within our own selves.
“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,2 Timothy 2:15.
rightly dividing the word of truth” –
Spiritual growth is where we yearn to be more like Christ, and less like our own selves,
or those in this world. We make choices each and every day to serve the Lord in the
spirit, and deny the desires of the flesh. Although we still sin and fall short of the glory
of God, He is merciful towards us.

Why is Spiritual Growth Important
Spiritual growth is important for Christians because it helps us understand God more, and
also what His purpose and plans are for our lives. We are no longer living in this world,
for the world; we are following God and His Will for us.
God knows what is best for us. He created each and every one of us with a plan and
the purpose for our lives.
For many, they will never follow through with said plan and purpose, but for those Christians who are actively seeking the Lord and desiring to grow and mature in the faith, they will actively do God’s Will in their lives.
What Can You Achieve?
There is so much that you can achieve when you walk in the spirit of Jesus. Aside from
the obvious – spiritual maturity and growth, there is also a deeper sense of wisdom and
understanding of the Bible. We also get to know more about who God truly is, and why He
created you, others, and this world around us.
We also receive unique spiritual gifts that can not only help ourselves but also others
For example: Joseph’s gift was interpreting dreams, Solomon had wisdom, Samson had such strength, Deborah was a strong leader, and Paul became one of the greatest apostles known to mankind for his faith and leadership.
When we become closer to God, we can start to receive these spiritual gifts that He has
given us, and use them according to His purpose.
5 powerful results of spiritual growth
1. Spiritual Growth Leads You Closer Towards God
As you choose to spend more time with God, studying the Bible, praying, sharing the
Gospel with others, attending Church and so on, you will feel closer to God.
“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you” –James 4:8a.
2. There is a Greater Understanding of The Bible
The more you study the Word of God and pray for the Holy Spirit to guide you, the more you will understand what The Bible says.
The Bible compares this process to a child being able to stop drinking milk and start eating meat.
A great example of this is being able to read the less exciting scriptures in the Bible, such as the
genealogies or measurements of the temple, and see the real hidden messages behind
those Bible verses.
2 Timothy 3:16.
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof,
for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” –
3. Better Mindset During Spiritual Warfare
All Christians will go through trials, tribulations, and spiritual warfare. Spiritual maturity allows you to go through these trials and hardships with a better mindset.
As you grow closer to The Lord, you depend on His strength more, are more aware of The Lord’s presence, and can work through these struggles easier than when you were not as spiritually mature.
“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the
4. You Share the Gospel With Others
Once you understand the Bible and the Gospel a lot better, you will be convicted to share the truth of the Gospel with others.
The Bible also encourages you to pray for others, especially for their salvation.
Overall, when you grow in your faith, you have a stronger desire to make God known and glorify Him daily.
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to everyMark 16:15
5. Gives You a Better Understanding of God’s Plan and Purpose
Have you ever asked yourself these questions:
- What is my purpose in my life?
- What is God’s plan for me?
These questions are ones that most Christians face. Through reading The Bible and getting to know God more, we slowly get answers to these questions.
There needs to be a lot of patience, consistency and a change of mindset towards how you go about seeking

The Importance of Spiritual Growth In Christianity
God loves you and has a plan for you in your life. He desires for you to get to know Him
and to make Him known to others.
Our lives are no longer about ourselves once we see
and believe in the truth about God and His creation. Our lives are transformed, for we are
no longer the person that we were before we were saved.
The ultimate reason for us being here on this earth is to glorify God. As such, spending
time in the Word, praying to God and actively choosing to do other things that will result
in spiritual growth and maturity in the faith is of paramount importance for us Christians.
