Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year. One highlight for me is taking the time to remember Jesus- His birth, life, death, resurrection, and coming return. Since Christmas is such a special time of year, it’s important to focus on Christ in this season. To help you do that- I’ve written this 5 minute Christmas devotion.
5 minute Christmas devotion
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.Isaiah 9:6-7
With the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, I’ve been thinking a lot about thrones, power, and responsibility.
The Queen will be remembered as the longest-sitting Monark. One who served her country from a young age to just days before her death.
Even though these are amazing accomplishments, her reign doesn’t even compare to Jesus’ reign.
The Government will be on His shoulders
There are 56 countries on six continents that make up the Commonwealth. This means that these countries see the British Monark as their sovereign and have them as their head of state.
This is an awesome responsibility and one that demands trust, wisdom, and much more.
The Bible tells us that The government will be on Jesus’s shoulders. Meaning that He will be the head of ALL governments- not just 56 countries.
He will reign and rule over the entire world.
There will be no end to peace
2022-2022 have been some of the most tumultuous years in recent history. There have been many deaths, murders, and natural disasters reported in the news.
Every day we read stories of mass shootings, mass murders, people dying from accidents and so much more.
The amount of pain and suffering has been so great that I’ve had to stop watching the news.
It just became too overwhelming and not good for my mental health.
M comfort comes from knowing that Jesus is going to return, and when He does- His reign will be marked by peace.
Peace like we have never experienced and it will last forever.

His reign establishes Justice Forever
As we look around us, it’s easy to see injustice- the wealthy taking advantage of the poor, powerful people walking over others, and minority groups being treated like 2nd tear citizens.
As I think about all the injustice- I get discouraged as I know these issues are not simple and need more than just 1 thing to be made right.
These verses tell us that Jesus’s reign will establish Justice forever. That means that as soon as Jesus’ reign start- we will see all the injustice made right and this standard will last forever.
As we think about the birth of The Lord Jesus Christ, let’s also look forward to His triumphant return will He will make all things right and take His rightful place forever.
